Guest Book

Hey,
So, I was thinking about the guest book. It seems like an expensive waste of money, so I was looking for alternatives. Some people have little scraps of paper that guests can write notes on and are then stuffed into different cubbies or vessels. That seems like a lot of clutter (I can just hear Steve making pack rat sounds in the background).

So, I was thinking what if we asked all of the guests to submit a picture of themselves they like when they RSVP and then put them together in a book (to be printed and bound at Kinkos). We could leave space around all of the pictures, so that instead of signing in you write a little message next to your picture (or someone else's). Kind of yearbook style. I just think if it had pictures and messages we'd be more excited about keeping it and it would actually mean something.

Thoughts? Does this seem like too much to ask of our guests?

  1. Hi! That sounds like a cute idea!! However, it does seem like kind of a big undertaking while you'll prob have a billion other things to worry about. And while it shouldn't be a problem for MOST guests to submit a photo, I doubt you'd get 100%.
Another alternative you may wanna consider is getting a large posterboard with a picture of you and Steve in the middle. Guests can sign the edges and then after the wedding you can frame it. I described it poorly, but it actually looked great (Monica and Mike did it).
    Fun fun!

  2. I think it sounds like a great idea. Twenty years from now it'll be fun to look at the book and see how everyone used to look.
